The sun sets on Friday

One of the nice things about our location is that the sun sets over the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The video doesn't do it justice. It never gets old watching the sunset here. The sun disappears quite rapidly, and it is almost always spectacular with the sunlight refracting below the horizon and reflecting on the water. In this video you hear Ian and I discussing Sir Paul McCartney's performance at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. I am of the opinion that some aging musicians from the sixties should follow the lead of The Rolling Stones and simply release a Coffee Table book to commemorate occasions.

Back to the vacation... Today was another excellent beach day. Kate and Angie went to the Gouda Ladies to buy cheese and to The Goat Soap Factory, (it is actually a house, that sells goat soap... They raise goats), and then into Summerside to pick up groceries. Isabella, Amelia and Ian popped into Kensington to get ice cream at The Frosty Treat.

Yesterday we were to Golf at Glasgow Hills, one of the most picturesque golf courses on the island. Despite having Tee Times booked months in advance, we discovered that the entire day was booked for tournament play. The pro shop staff quickly made arrangements to get our groups out on Eagles Glenn Golf Course which is just ten minutes away. We will return to play Glasgow Hills next Thursday.

My golf experience at Eagles Glen was good. I shot 52 on the front and 44 on the back. I was really pleased with my game. The weather was perfect for golf with the temperature around 20C when play began and 30C when we finished. We got back to the beach around 3 pm.

For supper, it was a rare meal out. We went to a small restaurant in Darnley called Ship to Shore. Obviously the menu featured lots of seafood, mussels,  oysters, crab, clam and fish... Really good microbrewery beer as well.

We enjoyed another meal outdoors... Fresh halibut, fresh green beens and grilled potatoes. Oh, and there was another fantastic sunset. SPOILER ALERT... This just might be this year's. Christmas Card. Photo.

Yesterday was a good day for body surfing

Wednesday the weather changed from breezy to windy. In the early afternoon, Ian and I went golfing at a course called Red Sands. Red Sands is a nice little 9 hole course that features rolling hills with some moderate changes in elevation. Both Ian and I managed to get our swings in order. It was a good opportunity to regain some confidence after yesterday's rain-out.

When Ian and I returned from golf, we rejoined the group for a good beach day.  Lots of good rollers to body surf in.

It was a rainy day...

 The day began with sunshine and wind. Eight of us headed out to Green Gables Golf Course knowing that there was a sixty percent chance of rain by noon. We managed to get 11 holes of golf in before the skies opened up. A rain out was a good result for me. It was very windy and I had difficulty controlling my shots from the tees. I made one par and several bogies, but on the other holes I spent far too much time wrestling the ball out of long rough or trapped in bunkers. Hopefully we will be able to play a full eighteen on Thursday at Glasgow Hills.

It rained much of the afternoon. We shared the evening meal with a large group of friends... Oysters, mussels, scallops, burgers, dogs and salads, followed by a game of team "Catch Phrases".

The sky cleared off in the evening, so Kate and I enjoyed a nice long stroll on the beach.

Day Two on the Island

Today was a beach day... Sunny and Breezy again.

Took Ian and Izzy and Amelia on a quick side trip to the Cavendish boardwalk.

This year's popular T-shirt is "Most Interesting Cow in the World...I don't always eat ice cream but when I do its Cows"

The boardwalk features lots of tourist trap boutiques... Sand T-Shirts, Sunglasses, Swimsuits, Shorts, Beaver Tails, sandals and Tattoos... I didn't get a tattoo.

 Had to scoot back passing lots of interesting vistas, with Ian pointing and clicking the PlayBook out of the passenger side window, as we were expected at Darnley Greens Par Three Golf for some quick golf before supper. Ian and I managed to lose an few of the balls that were going to be important for my golf at Eagle's Glenn tomorrow. I think I will need about a dozen for tomorrow based upon my play over the past few weeks.

Another nice sunset.. but the sky appears to be hinting at rain in the morning... Golf is at 9 am.

We're back!

After driving about 1400 kms, with a stopover in Riviere Du Loup, we're back in PEI.  We crossed the Confederation Bridge mid afternoon.

 The drive was a little long for some in the back seat.

The weather is really nice. 28C and breezy. This is the view just out front of our cottage.
